Dr. R's Home Page


Dr. Rasmussen teaches Upper School science at Temecula Preparatory School, including Chemistry, Honors Physics, A.P. Chemistry, and A.P. Environmental Science.  In 2023-24, he is teaching Chemistry, Honors Physics, and A.P. Chemistry, and advising the FTC Robotics team.  Above, you will find links to course-specific web pages and other interesting destinations.

OFFICE HOURS:  Dr. R holds Office Hours in room 33 Monday - Thursday from 3:35 to 4:00 pm, and other times by appointment.  The end time on Tuesday and Wednesday is flexible; the end time on Monday and Thursday is not. 

BIOGRAPHY:  Dr. Rasmussen attended Verdugo Hills High School in Los Angeles (click for action shot), earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Caltech (click for final exams song) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from Cornell University (click for alma mater).  He received his teaching credential from Alliant International University and has been teaching at the high school level for over seventeen years, eleven at TPS.  Prior to teaching, Dr. Rasmussen worked for ten years as a biotechnology scientist where he developed diagnostic tests for the AIDS viruses, HIV-1 and HIV-2, as well as several human genetic disorders, including those related to deep vein thrombosis, cardiac health, childhood deafness, and cancer and its treatments.
